Rivendell Riding Academy is dedicated to quality instruction on experienced, well-trained ponies and horses. Our facilities are geared toward progressive hands-on learning including the proper method for feeding carrots and cleaning tack. The Rivendell team regularly attends horse shows, events, dressage shows, clinics, hunts, and much more.

05/02/2012: Jennifer Scoops the Poop!
Epsiode 4
Rivendell held their first Combined Test of the year on Saturday, April 28,2012. There were many competitors in this show. Everyone did very well. In the Elementary level Paige Fanelli competed on Sophie and doing very well in stadium and dressage went home with a first place ribbon! Second place was taken by Izumi Shepard on Gilligan. Linda Palmeri rode Maggie in the elementary level and received third place. Kelsey Barker rode Jake and was rewarded fourth place. Tyra Lattin rode Cricket and was eliminated during her jumping round. On the other hand she did very well in dressage. In the Beginner Novice level there were many competitors. Donna Shellhammer rode Pete and having a very nice dressage test and a clean jumping round, gave her first place! In second place we have Samantha Ursini who rode Gilligan. Kelly Waters received third place on Jake. Joseph Mustello did his first horse show with his new horse Oscar and received fourth place. There was not many competitors in the Training Level this time around. Christina Giantasio rode her horse Grady. Having a very nice dressage they took home first! Second place was received by Alana Orlich on her horse Billee. Jon Filley rode his horse Mark and got third place. Jessica Lolakas rode Willow and did only her dressage tests and rode them beautifully. Of course this show wouldn't have been possible without the help of everyone at Rivendell. Mark Wertheim was our jump judge. Alex Sewell was our jump crew. Our dressage judge was Lori Barnard and her assistant was Barbara Mallen. Great Job everyone!! -Jennifer Shute
04/10/2012: Jennifer Scoops the Poop! Epsiode 3
On March 25, 2012 Rivendell attended the Crosswinds jumper show. Linda Palmeri did her first show on Maggie and handled everything very well. She also took Bill and did very well. Tyra Lattin went to her first horse show and took Cricket. With zero refusals Tyra received 5th and 6th for jumping and received 4th and 6th for equitation. Fantastic job Tyra! Kelsey Barker took Gilligan and got 1st in jumping and did very well in equitation. Good job! Kelly Latin took Callie. This is their second horse show together. Kelly received 2nd and 6th in the 2'9" class. Izumi Shepard also took Gilligan and did beginner hunters and won! Not to mention this was her first horse show! Brian Shepard also did 2'9" on Sophie and got 5th and 6th. Harrison took Dude and did very well. We aren't exactly sure how Harrison did as far as placing. Alana Orlich did her first horse show on Billie and did the 3'3" class. Alana did fantastic and won! Bernadette Palmeri took Tartan and Pablo and did the 3'7" class and won that class. Fantastic Job Guys! You should be very proud of yourselves. -Jennifer Shute

02/24/2012: Jennifer Scoops the Poop! Epsiode 2
On Sunday 19,2012 Rivendell attended the Gardnertown Farm horse show. Luckily it was a very nice, and sunny day outside. While waiting for the hunter riders to finish their classes, the Rivendell team waited outside Gardnertowns indoor. Being it was so warm out, the warm up for our horses was on the quick side. Sarah Proper attended this show on her horse Braden. Doing the 2'6 class, she won two seventh place ribbons. Braden and Sarah both did a very good job. Making mommy very happy. Linda Palmeri attented on her horse Sir William(Bill).Even though Linda did not place, Bill and Linda both had high spirits and great sportsmanship. Kelly Lattin took Grandpas Gift(Callie). This was their first time off property together as a team. They both worked together and got two third places and a sixth place. Sadie Pettyjohn took On the Mark(Mark). Mark was feeling good that day and thought he was running in a derby. Sadie staying calm took control and they placed seventh and eighth. Barr Romar took Fozzy, and they both did very well, placing fourth and fifth. Brian Shepard went on Sophie, going clean and quick, the placed fourth fifth and sixth. I took Sight Unseen(Sydney). This was also our first time out together as a team..and this was sydneys first time out in quite a few years. We placed first,second and third and Reserve champion. Everyone should very proud of them selves. Great Job Guys!! -Jennifer Shute
