Rivendell Riding Academy is dedicated to quality instruction on experienced, well-trained ponies and horses. Our facilities are geared toward progressive hands-on learning including the proper method for feeding carrots and cleaning tack. The Rivendell team regularly attends horse shows, events, dressage shows, clinics, hunts, and much more.

Ponies, Ponies, Ponies!

Rivendell is the proud home of wonderful ponies and horses. These amazing animals teach children responsibility early in life. A child's immediate wants take a backseat when the water buckets must be filled, the ponies must be groomed, fed, and turned out, and the tack must be cleaned.

His first Blue ribbon!

Our ponies and horses teach sportsmanship as well. We know that blue ribbons cannot be awarded every time, but the effort is worth far more than a tangible award. To us, the look of proud accomplishment on a student's face is what riding is all about.

Horses also remind adults to take the time to enjoy the finer things in life, like watching the sunrise on an early morning trot, hearing a friendly nicker as the stall door opens, or sharing a first trail ride with their child.

Come ride at Rivendell and meet our ponies and horses. They are our friends, our family, and most importantly an eternal source of shared joy and satisfaction.

Our Philosophy

Rivendell Riding Academy is a family business that prides itself on building lasting connections with those who share similar interests. Our capable staff is dedicated to competent and affordable instruction in all aspects of horsemanship.

A horseman is as comfortable handling a horse on the ground as they are in the saddle, so we ask that parents do not help with vital lesson elements such as tacking and untacking of the pony. We have good ponies who have unbelievable tolerance levels for all kinds of mistakes.

Care for the ponies is a vital part of what we teach

We believe that teaching in groups is the best way to learn. We do not require our students to jump. Those not wishing to jump must inform the instructor prior to scheduling the lesson. If your child is afraid of a certain pony or activity, mention it to the instructor so it can be addressed with as little stress as possible.

Showing and Eventing are not required, but if you want to try we will do our best to get you there. The welfare of the students and the ponies are our top priority. We are committed to providing the maximum educational value of every activity.

We strongly encourage asking questions and auditing lessons, shows, and our sponsored Clinics before deciding to try one; doing so is an excellent learning tool in itself.
